FAQ

Q: Who started this company, and how did they get the idea?

The concept was developed by Dustin and Kylee Smith – a husband/wife team that develops each Book|Blast with input from friends, family, and the community. They started pairing activities with great books to spark a passion for reading in their own young children. When they saw how the activities helped bring reading alive for their oldest daughter, they knew that they should start sharing the Book|Blasts with other people in the community.

Q:  Does it cost to participate in OnceUponAGoodTime.com?

A:  Once Upon a Good Time is a free resource! There may be some cost associated with the activities we recommend. You may also purchase the books we review and other related merchandise from our Amazon.com store, but that’s completely optional.

Q: What do those symbols in the visual guide represent?

A: The visual guide shows you the genre and the target audience of the Book Blast. The age range represents the estimated age group that will enjoy the book recommended for the Book Blast. The associated activity may suit a wider range of ages.

Q: Why don’t you have Book Blasts every week with books for children of all ages?

A: While we do try to cover all age groups regularly, our goal is to showcase one picture book and one chapter book each week. We recognize that the reading level of each of these categories varies a great deal, but we hope that as the Once Upon a Good Time community grows you will be able to find other great recommendations related to the showcased books and activities through comments posted by our users.
