Here Comes Peter Cottontail | Easter Egg Hunt
Hippity Hoppity Easter’s on it way! Here Comes Peter Cottontail is a beautifully illustrated book with the entire beloved song as its text. Easter is one of my favorite holidays. My parents always made it memorable for us as children. Easter morning was filled with goodies and excitement. There was always a beautiful new Easter Dress with gloves, a purse and a bonnet to wear to church, which we loved! And then, of course, there was the hunt! The Easter Bunny always hid both our baskets and the eggs. The older we got the harder they were to find. The joy was evident on my father’s face as we searched and searched our house diligently seeking our prize. I cannot think of a new tradition or event that would be more fun. Enjoy this Easter together as a family. Happy Easter!

Have a Blast! This is a tradition that goes back thousands of years. It contains both religious and cultural symbolism. Religiously, the Easter colors and decorations symbolize the Resurrection or re-birth of our Savior Jesus Chirst. Culturally, Easter symbolizes the re-birth and renewal of the earth. Family traditions and holidays become invaluable when looking back on childhood. They are what we remember, and children often remember them as some of the happiest moments of life, even if in reality the adults were really struggling or frustrated at the time. So enjoy the mess of the egg dye, the late night, the early morning, the inevitable of candy wrappers disaster, and the sugar high that lasts for days. These are simply great memories in the making!
Extra Tips for a Good Time:
- Count all of the eggs before and after the hunt to ensure you have them all.
- Keep the hardboiled eggs in the refrigerator before and after the hunt and they will last for up to one week.
- Consider splitting your home or backyard into two areas, one for older kids and one for younger kids.
- Some Easter Bunnies hide plastic eggs full of candy. If you prefer to limit candy in your household, the Easter Bunny has been known to substitute pennies, nickes, dimes, quarters and the occasional lucky $1 egg!
